I have the XPS 15 9550 as well, and I think once the new Skylake MacBooks come out we will have much better luck, support-wise. I've only made a hackintosh with one laptop in the past which worked pretty well, but battery life wasn't anywhere near MacBook level, so I would assume at least 4-5 hours, but not sure how much more.

Hi, I'm new to the forums and I just recently bought a Dell XPS 15 9530 laptop. Its specs are very similiar to the rMBP 2013. My Dell has two drives, a 256GB mSATA which I'm going to install Windows 8.1 on and a 1TB hard drive which I plan to install Mavericks on.

    2. # re: Dell XPS 15 review I saw this review and it cermented my decision to buy. I echo your sentiments about keyboard and after I'd read the reviews about the Lenovo X1 2nd gen I couldn't in all conscience buy the lenovo purely because of the keyboard.

I've been browsing the forums and noticed that Clover bootloader is the only option if I want to keep UEFI. There doesn't seem to be a lot of documentation on Clover.

Anyway, is there any guide you guys would recommend for me? I did some searches on the forums and there seems to be three or four different guides on how to use Clover and none of them are similar.

I'm ready to learn! I was able to patch the machkernel successfully. Got mavericks installed. But I had to use -x to start the installer. Once the install finished, started the multibeast installation with parameters and all went well. But I still need to -x when running mavericks as there are some kernel panics, but that is mostly with the kexts that I chose.

So, i guess its a trial and run situation. Will keep you all posted on the progress of what works and doesn't. For one, the bluetooth is giving the Most panics, but just try to disable it, in your S/L/E As far as I know, we will never get that working as it is intel based.

So wifi/bluetooth are out of the question. Best scenario is to replace your wifi/bluetooth chip with an atheros one.

I have already bought it, just waiting for it to arrive(DELL DW1702 atheros AR5B195) Things that I am still trying to make work: Sleep(Close Lid) Audio Trackpad I have done several hackintoshes, but this is the first time I do a laptop, so its a bit of a challenge. @RehabMan - Your kernel was great! That helped me out a ton! I was able to patch the machkernel successfully. Got mavericks installed. But I had to use -x to start the installer.
